A member of the regional executive committee (Rexco), she reports directly
to the regional EVP, Alfred Baku, and will be responsible for SD technical, social
(community relations), as well as environmental and social risk mitigation.
Celestina holds a PhD and MSc in Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, among her many academic credentials. She has over 20 years' industry experience
as a researcher, senior manager, and consultant, most recently with AngloGold Ashanti, where she headed environment and closure planning.
As of 1 August Francis Eduku will thus be giving up his acting role as Head of SD
for West Africa and will focus on his other two portfolios - Human Resources and
Corporate Affairs - which he leads as VP. In this role he is responsible for people
strategy and organisational effectiveness, government and public/media relations,
strategic communications, and regional branding. Francis, who joined Gold Fields
Ghana in 2014, will remain a key member of the Rexco team.
