Ever since the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsueam announced that the cyanide park in Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipality, will be upgraded to a Standard Astroturf facility, some have argued strongly about how unnecessary this facility is to the people. Some believe this opportunity could have been used to fixed internal roads within cyanide instead.
Others have the opinion that the park is used for other social gatherings and as such, an Astroturf will deny users, other than football lovers, from using the facility.
It's not surprise to hear these comments from political and developmental opposers. These were the same people who vehemently accused the Member of Parliament, *Hon. George Mireku Duker*, for lobbying for an Astroturf to be constructed at Dompim, for which in their opinion, should have been bought to Cyanide. Through the hard work of Hon. George Mireku Duker, Cyanide is about to see an Astroturf, but for cheap politics, suddenly, Cynaide doesn't need an Astroturf. I call this witchcraft.
My fellow residents of the Municipality, let's us first understand the meaning of "ASTROTURF". The word Astroturf is the nickname for "artificial grass" or ChemGrass. The word astroturf was first used in connection with the Houston Astrodome Stadium in the United States of America. It is the world's first multi - purpose domed sports stadium. It served as the home for the "ASTROS" of the Major League Baseball(the turf for the ASTROS, and this rebranded name was officially accepted after John A. Wortmann used it at the Houston Astrodome Stadium in 1966.
With this brief history, let's now come home and to the Cyanide Park. The decision by the Tarkwa-Nsueam MP, Hon George Mireku Duker to upgrade the Cyanide Park into an astroturf facility is a very good decision and only nation wreckers will stand against it. This is a decision that will positively affect the Social and Economic activities wihin the community and by extension Tarkwa as whole.
The current users of the park for which none will be denied from using the facility on completion are, Soccer gamers, Bereaved families for funeral, Religious groups (Crusade) and other corporate bodies.
The new upgraded facility will ensure that patrons get the maximum satisfaction, for instance at the moment there are no washrooms at the park, but the "new" facility will have washrooms. There will be floored light for night programs thus making the facility usable 24 hours and it will also add to the astetic beauty of the area.
The new facility is going to be the Tarkwa's version of the Kotobabi Wembley Sports Complex.
Hon George Mireku Duker, thank you so much for the foresight. You are truly making the WASSAMAN great again.
